Not sure if it is possible to put a name to this Peltigera sp. but if anyone can, great! Thanks. Found growing on a ditch bank.

A bit trampled or slug-chewed

A view of the veins and rhizines on the underside is probably needed to name this specimen. It might be Peltigera hymenina, but I think the genus-level ID is safest here.

Peltigera malacea...

would be an exciting find for Northamptonshire, Alison.

The 'tomentum' visible here is the hyphae of the medulla exposed by a slug or other lichenivore, not the true tomentum that I am guessing drew you to this rare dune species.
