4 feet might be a bit much but certainly in excess of 3 feet.
Whatever its size, that is a good find and an excellent record with convincing photo.
I had seen the fresh egg cases coming from female dogfish before but I wasnt aware of the length of the strands until this occasion. It was really surprising.
Cathal - this post interested me too long ago, long before I was collating and collecting marines wi' a Tag.
Can you Tag in ProjectM1 please?
No bother Derek.
Did you see this post yet? Its a marine curiosity- well it is for me anyway.
I did and I am delaying, waiting for more information and for the ID to develop. I am not certain why you have not added some Observation or ID notes to this lovely post and why you are not certain about its ID being L.vulgaris (or L.forbesii) - you should say what you think the mystery is.
Ive been very busy Derek, I was sort of waiting for the likes of you to confirm or challenge it!!
It looks like L. vulgaris in online images, but I havent looked further into it. I have a lot going on and as you know I havent been iSpotting as much as before. Its all good, the distractions.....
