I think the crest in this image is quite deceiving. The Shag has a dark face and a much higher forehead and a more forward positioned crest than in this bird. The cormorant can exhibit a crest towards the back of the head as shown.

Must admit I did wonder whether I had got this right but the crest made me think it was a shag!Perhaps I should stick to plants!
