A far trickier business than I first thought. You need to be so close and this bird tolerated my presence to about 10 feet or so whilst it sunned itself.

It had probably forgotten how it felt in the sun!

Lovely detail, the sheen on the feathers and the puckering of the orange around the eye. Delightful!

What are you putting into the seed mixture to get them to stay quiet enough to get close?

Hi Robert, this was not actually a garden bird. I think as Janet suggests it was stunned by the strange warm orb in the sky. Chris.
