Location: Forestry Commission land at Cowhouse Bank, North Yorkshire, UK
Flower spike c50cm tall in mixed grass/broad leaved plants growing in peaty soil at the side of the footpath.

Chalky alkaline soil

is where they're most often found. Peaty forestry land in Yorkshire would most likely be acidic. Common Heath Orchid?

It is common spotted, not heath spotted, despite the soil-type. The lip is too long.
