British list of Coccinellidae, (Ladybirds)

There are around 47 species of Coccinellidae resident in Britain and Ireland. They are not all recorded on iSpot, yet. This list shows 47 species, those that can be found on iSpot are linked to the page showing all observations of the species selected.
The London and Essex Ladybird Surveys do say more, but if they are not recorded with NBN they are not listed here.
If you think I have missed any that are on the NBN gateway, or even the UK Ladybird list then please do let me know.

great!

Wow, that must have taken some work! Thanks for doing this Mick.

Later this year it should be possible to do this sort of species list browsing on iSpot automatically (without Mick have to do so much typing!), but that's still a little way off so great to have this available now.

British Ladybird List

Hi Martin,
Thanks for the show of appreciation.

Now on the subject of a Collembola key. If you remember I was asked if I would like to do one. Well yes I would, but after much deliberation I have to confess my knowledge of the finer details of Collembola physiology is not up to the task. However I am willing, and prepared to put up a list in the same fashion as done for the Ladybirds. In fact I do feel that I have been remiss in not getting back to you sooner on this subject, please accept my apologies...

Hyperaspis

Some minor points: the Hyperasis in Britain is actually H. pseudopustulatus, not, as was previously thought, H. reppensis.

We also have Nephus bisignatus as a native species (though almost certainly extinct in Britain), and Rhyzobius lopanthe is now established in the southeast
