Definitely Acer!

Hi Mark, I'm leaning against Field Maple as the overall form of the tree seems too stout.

Yes, I know that A. campestre can become a large tree, but it's not that common.. and the buds seem too large.

Hate to say this, but better photos would have helped!

PROBABLY RIGHT - DID NOT THINK OF NORWAY AT TIME AND SEEMS TO BE LARGER THAN FIELD MAPLE
