Can you tell the difference between rabbit and hare from their prints in snow?
I went by the size compared to the hand. After entering the ID I found hundreds of these prints whilst walking the dog which were made by rabbits. The size seemed consistent to that shown in the image. I'm not sure Hares move in the same manner and I'm assuming their tracks would be considerably larger, all my opinion though.

Chris, have a look at the discussion at http://www.ispot.org.uk/node/313148 where a similar set of prints could be hare ... or might be rabbit. There really doesn't seem to be much difference between them particularly in some gaits.
Agreed Ian but there is a huge difference in size between the two sets of prints, again my opinion only. And assuming there are no baby Hares at this time of year.
