Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
No interactions present.
Knocked a over box of material the other day and it landed on my toes.

Must be a lot of specimens in that box!
Species and subspecies of the Cladonia portentosa / mitis / arbuscula group.
But before anyone thinks there might be a new diagnostic character here, and sets up tests dropping, say, C. pyxidata and C. pocillum on their toes, or maybe C. glauca and C. subulata, I had better come clean and admit that the hard plastic of the box itself undoubtedly contributed to my subsequent eloquence.
