Often listed under Adonia variegata, not sure which is the latest version though.

From what I have read Hippodamia (Adonia) variegata, is the valid name, whereas Hippodamia variegata is the accepted version. Both, (as I am sure you are aware), are acceptable. Does NBN accept Adonia variegata..? I will put it to the test as I do have images taken in later years.
For those who are not aware Adonia is the subgenus. The nomenclature format for showing a subgenus is "Genus (Subgenus) species".

Hi Mick, as stated I'm not sure which is technically correct, perhaps all are. The UK Ladybird Survey has it listed under Adonia variegata but on other sites it's listed as Hippodamia variegata. Anyway on this occasion they all seem to link to the same NBN records as far as I can ascertain. I think I would agree with you that Hippodamia (Adonia) variegata is the correct name and the others are acceptable names. Chris.
