Latin name

I understand this may now have a new scientific name - possibly Pastor roseus

Interesting - pastor was its original genus I think

..hence the authority is quoted in round brackets in the name Sturnus roseus (Linnaeus, 1758) indicating a genus change along the way.

Sorry about the obscure clue Jeremy, you were well on the way to..

What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

Supposedly a barb from the bard at the smell of the rival rose theatre, and therefore a good link to a Rose coloured starling with its nickname of the 'pink stink'

[ though why the starling is given the stink tag I don't know ]

If you move this to the "birds" section you will get even more responses!

Can't say I noticed it was going into the wrong section on the 'droid, I'll have a look next time to see how obvious the categories are.
