This plant was growing through a gap in the pavement. Leaves were arranged very regularly (see photo from above) and they were quite fleshy and exuded a milky white sap when broken.

Let a grow a little more...

...and it will turn into a weird space-age-looking thing.

I detest all Euphorbia with a passion, but I have been known to allow this one to get to knee height, as it is just so odd-looking.

Much beyond that, and they develop massive tap-roots, making removal really hard, and they also then go to seed. And they seed very, very freely.
