Description:

This moth stayed quite low in the grass and didn't fly far when disturbed.

A species that does not survive our winter, but migrates from Europe in variable numbers every year. This is a particularly smart individual, suggesting that it is the offspring from an earlier migrant. The south coast had large numbers arriving earlier this year.

Silver-Y moth

I've not seen any of these in Yorkshire yet. However, they usually show in late August and September when they can be seen in the hundreds.
