There's this field in which the farmer planted sweetcorn this year, and it's right next to a large wood. The evidence of raids into the fiels by the local squirrels are everywhere! Husks, leaves, the works. I don't know how this cob survived - the field's been harvested - maybe the squirrel had stored it earlier.
Incidentally, it's a very popular gleaning field with wood pigeons.
Picture 2 shows some of the evidence.

Excellent photo's but don't tell the farmer who is pinching his sweetcorn. It may have stored it in a hollow of a tree, hope it's got more as the weather is turning now

Hi Sheila

There were loads of husks and leaves, so they'd had lots of cobs, the little devils! The wood is extensive - many acres - and in my imagination I see the squirrels homing in from all over onto this one field... And I bet that's not far wrong, either!
