Don't suppose you have photos of the underside?
Possibly a Pluteus but could also be a Melanoleuca.
I was thinking Pluteus but as Flaxton has mentioned you really need photos of the gills and stem also was it growing out of the wood and if so wood type would help too.

Thanks for the tentative identifications, I'll make a note of them.
If you hold the camera at ground level facing the gills it is possible to photograph without removing the fungi also a small mirror can be used.
Useful tips; will include a mirror on future walks.
I am fairly certain that the tree was a dead alder, which I think you will not find inconsistent with what is shown in the photo.
