Garden Spider

The spider on the right with the smaller abdomen is a male, and his intentions are amorous. However, late in the season, when the female is already mated, he runs the risk of ending up as lunch.

Many thanks, Michael. The male on the right was certainly making all of the running. They eventually ended up in a two-spider scrum, and at that point I left them to it.
