Out of interest...

...there isn't much with leaves shaped like this: but there is a garden escape, Asarum europaeum (google it) which looks similar.

However, the leaves of Asarum are much smaller and glossier, and it has tiny, insignificant dark flowers.

I don't know how likely you are to find it out in the wild, but it might be around in parks and planted spaces.

Asarum europaeum

Rachy, thanks for the info. Had a look and the leaves are similar, but the flower is different so what I saw was almost certainly Winter heliotrope.
