Hybrid?

The plumage on the head of this bird doesn't seem quite right for a Gadwall, and is vaguely reminiscent of a Red-crested Pochard (or something else) which makes me suspect it may be a hybrid - any thoughts from those who have agreed this id?

Head

They often do show such a division of colour on the head, but yes...it does look as if a hybrid is possible, as the division is very bold. Compare to the pics here...
