Given by a friend when a simple stange gourd with a projecting 'limb' (not sure if this is complete or has previously been trimmed) and no foliage at all. Has since sprouted leaves in groups.

David, according to this site (http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/kew-300353) from the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and Missouri Botanical Garden, it seems to have gone back to being called Beaucarnea recurvata again.
Thanks Steve, I was using the Kew International Plant Names Index, but the Plant List seems to be more up to date. I see the family has changed to Asparagaceae as well!
