Seen in rockpool next to Himanthalia buttons. Never seen these before, despite quite a few years of rockpooling. Not even sure if they are algal? marine fungi?

Yellow eggs shaped 'buttons'

The vegetative buttons of Himanthalia start off egg-shaped and then become flattened, so these could be the early buttons. However, they do look a more vivid yellow than usual. If you have never seen them before, then maybe they are not Himanthalia after all.
Have a look at these photos and see what you think. http://www.algaebase.org/search/species/detail/?species_id=89&sk=20

Anyone else got any ideas?

....like to know texture - look awfully man-made to me - bit of a plastic necklace/bracelet or something? Certainly don't look like himanthalia buttons :)
