The common name should be the White-shouldered House Moth, the Brown House Moth is a different species.

Yep..

Even have it down as that in my notes. It does bring up the problem that all the other obs. have as brown.

Brown

Hi Mick, I'm not sure as to what other obs. you refer. If it is those on the carousel then they are all named as White-shouldered House Moths. However the title above the carousel shows Brown House Moth but that is based on the Latin name only.

Check

here. It's my page, and if the link works it will show other obs as brown shoulder's.

Yep..

shows whites described as browns. I might of made an error in the editor, cant see where though..?

White-shouldered House Moth.

I didn't notice that the Endrosis sarcitrella was also written down as Brown House Moth. I have always called E. sarcitrella the White-shouldered House Moth, and Hofmannophila pseudospretella the Brown House Moth. I have had too many of both species in my house!
