I was able to get within feet of these birds, most unusual.
No interactions present.
great shots! One can sometimes creep up to mipits but that seems well close for a skylark

Yep I agree, couldn't believe it. Instead of flying off they just ducked into the grass. At one point I was too close for the camera. When I moved off they just carried on foraging.

I think that in this particularly cold weather lots of the birds just don't want to exert any unnecessary energy flying away. One likes to think that they don't see us as a threat.
