I can see where you are coming from but I don't think the habitat would vary to that extent.

They are indeed Craterium minutum, click the link and you will see where I am comming from. Please accept my appologies. I was basing my initial comment on the other observations, which are not C. minutum. If you do check the link you will see the latter is a slime mold.
