You had this in 'mammals', but I assume that was a mistake so I moved it to invertebrates where you are more likely to get an ID for it. Well, lets hope anyway!

Do you know what species of plant this was laid on as many insects have specific food plants. To me the leaf looks a little like sorrel but don't have much to go on.
The foodplant seems to be dock, according to the tags that lipper has added, and I think this is probably Small Copper. See the egg images on ukbutterflies:
