Caught by my eldest daughters cat. Checked out and realesed.
No interactions present.
... taking on a beak like that.
...when it started bringing in dead dogs, she really did get worried... I jest of course.
Just for the record the pecker was taken to the wild life hospital on Rookery lane, Lincoln, where it was checked out, then released.

My partner recalls a time, while living in Canada, when she saw her cat about to bring a woodpecker (unknown species) into the house. Unfortunately for the cat, it got too close to the door jamb and the bird began to peck furiously at it. Apparantly the cat's eyes appeared to rattle in its head and it was left rather dazed and confused as the woodpecker made its escape. I'm not sure the cat was ever quite the same after that but my partner still regularly chuckles at the memory.
A lucky escape!
