Xanthoria parietina?

Observed: 4th December 2012 By: amantell20amantell20’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

On limestone in coastal location. Confirmation of id appreciated as its early days with lichens for me!

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Not Xanthoria parietina?

It has lobular edges rather than the foliose habit of X. parietina. Makes me think very firmly of Caloplaca.

A very helpful ID

Thanks, Alan. Comments like that are immensely useful.

Thanks again!

Thanks again, to all who have commented. Alan, I enjoyed your description of 'tardily fertile', an eloquent turn of phrase that somehow fits perfectly!
