IMG_0016 Possible woodpecker damage on high pine branch 30 11 2012 c3e
Description:

I wondered whether this could be woodpecker damage - high up in the crown of a Scots Pine on the underside of a branch. The holes are a bit square however and some patches of other bark appear to have been levered up perhaps. I haven't seen anything quite like this before.

Woodpecker damage

There were no other signs of damage, and the foliage on the branch looked healthy - no signs of disease that I could see.
