Description:

Perhaps my favourite sub-tropical tree. Wonderful exotic flowers, an amazing sight to see a mature tree in full flower. The fruits are capsules in which there are hairs resembling cotton used for stuffing cushions and pillows.
A native of Argentina and Brazil. This specimen was in Fuerteventura but by far the best ones I have seen were in Madeira!Needless to say it is widely planted as a street and garden tree in warmer climates.
