Chiffchaff

You've given Chiffchaff as the common name, but Willow Warbler for the scientific name! P. collybita is Chiffchaff.

Scientific name...

As pointed out by Ophrys, you have the wrong scientific name on your ID - I suggest that you post a revised ID to correct this.

I agree that it is a Chiffchaff though!

Revised ID

thanks to Ophrys and RoyW for pointing out the scientific name error - I have now revised the ID

Scientific names

You don't really need to put the scientific name in yourself. Just press 'Get recommended', once you have entered the common name, and iSpot fills in the correct scientific name for you.

I always use that, even though I know the scientific names...it is quicker and avoids spelling mistakes through inept typing (which is a speciality of mine!).

confession !

The error happened because I have to confess I entered Willow Warbler at first and pressed 'Get recommended' . Then whilst writing the ID notes I realised that the dark legs were probably more indicative of Chiffchaff so I changed 'Willow Warbler ' to 'Chiffchaff' and I changed the title but I failed to get a new 'Recommended'. But I'm pleased that my decision to make the change to Chiffchaff seems to have been correct !

The scientific name takes priority.

If you had pressed "get recommended" after changing the English name to Chiffchaff, the Ispot system would have changed the English name back to Willow Warbler!

If you change the English name to a different species you need to delete the scientific name before hitting the "get recommended" button.
