Meta vs Metellina

An indication of where it was in the cave might be a help.

Meta is a proper troglodyte, metellina merianae a threshold species.

Typically metellina merianae will be in the shade at the entrance, whereas meta species will be in the darker portions of a cave or hole, further back.

and another thing..

Cephalothorax does look better for m.merianae, whereas the abdomen looks better for meta (though both are variable in both tribes).

For now, I'm leaving my vote with meta ~ sensu lato ;)

Meta vs Metellina

It was right at the back of the cave where there was no light.
