Description:

Growing at roadside edge of an area of waste (post-agricultural?) ground. I didn't care to brave the traffic to get a closer look.
Perhaps a throwout.

Viburnum!

Well it's certainly a deciduous Viburnum, but as you say difficult to distinguish the different species /cultivars.I love this plant, I have a large specimen in my garden that has been flowering since September and will continue until April. I like the fragrance but sometimes find it a bit overpowering. Mine grows very rapidly and several times I've pruned it back hard to stop it overgrowing other plants. It's excellent value though!
