In mixed woodland but under beech. Up to about 8cm across open cap. Slightly bulbous at base.

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.

Collins says up to 6cm for hystrix - some were certainly bigger than that. I also can't see a dark edge to the gills.
MJ has it at up to 100mm and Phillips lists 40-60mm. Other Lepiota it could be is L.aspera pure white gills ;-)

With the bulb and no sign of a dark edge to the gills I am sure Dorset.Mushroom... is right with L aspera
As you pointed out, the gill edge and a lengthways cross section. Think that should help =)
