Guillemots look very different in flight. Shearwaters bank and glide effortlessly past, seemingly hardly flapping their wings at all. In contrast, Guillemots fly hard and fast with their wings flapping so fast they form a blur around the body...they could hardly be more different.
The basic black and white plumage is not dissimilar, but Guillemots are smaller and stubby with a more pointed front and rear end when flying.
