In Carpathian light woodland - an orchard in fact. Couldn't work out what had Colchicum leaves but odd spring flowers.

Grown in horticulture as an alpine bulb!

I don't think so. I know the Merendera which appears in the Pyrenees i autumn, and although the flower does resemble it (and was my first thought for genus), this flower has a stem (in long-grass habitat in one photo) and large leaves which appear at the same time, and was in flower in May. There is a sand-dune species of Merendera in Romania similar to the alpine one, but this isn't that either.
Thanks for trying though.
