I should just add that my reference to silhouetting refers to the leg colour.

I photoshoped it and the leg colour is right Chris, the claw clinches it for me though.
General jizz, lack of flank stripes, suggestion of slight peak at rear of crown, habitat...I'd have said a Woodlark.
Edit: I do suspect that this bird is misidentified, as a Meadow Pipit, if anyone fancies looking at it again. I think the blackish primary coverts can be seen.

Having looked again (a lot) I think you may be right Ian, it is the suggestion of a crest and yes I can see the light-dark-light of the primary coverts.
Have changed my agreement accordingly.
