Unknown Tree

Observed: 8th September 2012 By: Addisoncotswold
Tree/ Shrub

Fruit
Description:

Tree/ Shrub is approx 5ft high. The leaves are thick and glossy. The fruit/ nut is very distinctive, but I cannot find anything like it in my garden books. Surrounding plants are Rhododendrons and Camellias so it is most likely a calcifuge.
My colleague has just moved house and so did not see the shrub/ tree in flower.

Does look like a Camellia fruit...

...no idea which one, sorry.

There do appear to be some flower buds, so maybe next year it will be easier to ID it?
