Dragonfly
Description:

Would be grateful for an id. A large dragonfly, moving around the pond quickly, stopping frequently in what looked like ovipositing behaviour, so, I presume a female?
Is it not late in the year for egg laying ?
Am in the dark re. dragonflies !!

ID Comment

Sorry it should read "antehumeral" and another key ID feature are the fused spots on S9 and S10 which are just visible at the end of the abdomen, the Southern Hawker is the only UK species to have this feature.
