Lovely photo...

...of the leaves, the catkins and the cones all in one shot, well done!

I always think that Common Alder looks as though someone made normal leaves out of plasticine, then pushed the point inwards.

All the other alders have proper pointed leaves, this is the only one with what you might call indented leaves - nice and easy to identify!

There must be a proper word for it - emarginate?
