It is hard to see the detail, but this looks more like a straggly E. arvense. I cannot see any branching.
Hi Graeme - mis-clicked should be 'likely to be but not certain'. I was worried about the degree of branching. Some of these plants were about 75-80cm tall and certainly taller than any E. arvense I have seen. Did wonder about Equisetum telmateia.
Since your comment I've also checked on the 'New Atlas of the British & Irish Flora' CD and wood horsetail has not been recorded in this location, so it looks like I got it wrong.
