'Growth' on rose stem

Description:

Seen on several different wild (dog?) rose plants, within 2 miles of each other. Red hair like mass, near tip of stem.

Bright colour -

User Exroyal posted a similarly bright one from Bishop Middleham Quarry earlier in the year. They start off this really intense colour, then fade to a mix of reds, greens, and intermediate shades as the gall "matures".
