I am afraid that a clear photograph is needed before anything reliable can be said about this. I am not convinced it is a lichen.
There seems to be some red bruising, which might suggest the fungus Physisporinus sanguinolentus (= Rigidoporus sanguinolentus), which is quite common on damp wood, but in that case the surface would have consisted of pores.
