Description:

Large group of small off-white mushrooms growing in weedy grass near the Wilderness Pond in the park.
Grooved ovate/conical light grey caps with brownish tinted centres, about 1 cm across and 1 cm high.
Gills off-white turning darker shortly after being picked, then black when specimens kept indoors for a fortnight.
Stem about 2 cm long, a few mm diameter, light grey with fine white down.
Dark grey spores, shaped like little boats with one end pointed and other end flat, many with a central blob (germ pore), 8-9.5 x 4.5-5.5 microns (20 spores measured, extremes omitted).

Identifications

Caution: Do NOT use iSpot to identify fungi to eat!

Some fungi are very poisonous so a mistaken ID could have serious consequences.
