Possible Cep? HELP!! :)

Observed: 10th October 2012 By: snakepiesnakepie’s reputation in Fungi and Lichens

Found near a grassway path and on a heath. The heath was full of heather, which I hear Ceps often grow near. Please help by looking at the photos. Please?
Many thanks

You will need more than

You will need more than photos, to id to a sufficient level for eating. Best join a Fungal group.

I agree

The photographs appear to show a white network on the stem, which would support this being Boletus edulis. But DO NOT ask anyone to confirm edible species simply from photographs.

iSpot's warning in the pink box above is there for a good reason.

Thanks for help.

We went on a foray with an expert and found this shortly after. We're not going to eat it but want to identify it for our own it's mostly been nibbled by creatures!

Thanks for comments :)
