Habitat upland - molinia / freshwater stream. Eurasian otter spraint on rock containing a dozen larvae, each approx 20-24mm long. It is known that the smooth-coated otter will eat molluscs and insects such as fly larvae, spiders and beetles. These may either be eaten directly, or indirectly as the stomach contents of eaten fish. However, I have never witnessed this behaviour in the Eurasian otter.

  • fly larvae
Confidence: It's likely to be this, but I can't be certain.
