Does anybody know why there are so many ring-necked Parakeets around, a few days ago we had six on our bird-feeder.

I don't much care for Parakeets because they scare away finches, tits and other smaller birds. Is anyone else having this Parakeet problem?

This winter aside, we have had a run of warm winters which has allowed these birds to survive in cites, especially London. Population estimates vary wildly but it is likely to be around 30-40,000, a significant impact on our native birds.
