Its lycoperdon not sure if its possible to say which species. also what are those little fungi in the background, do you have higher resolution image?
According to my little book (Collins Gem Guide to Mushrooms and Toadstools) L. pyriforme is the only puff-ball to grow on decaying wood, not on the ground and often occurs in large groups, hence my confidence in my ID. As for the small fungi, I assumed, at the time, they were smaller (younger) versions of the same species. I have cropped my 2 original photos to enlarge these smaller ones but I don't know how helpful they might be.
