Description:

Lots of these growing on a patch of recently cleared ground. Very large wavy edged leaves on purple/black stems. Solanum type lilac flowers with very wavy edges and yellow anthers. Any ideas - could these be Aubergine plants?

Distribution

Before I noticed the location I was about to comment that it's not known wild from the UK. On the other I wouldn't be surprised to find it occurring at least casually in the wild on the French Riviera (like tomato does in this country).
