half a shed exoskeleton

This is half the shed skin. Woodlice are crustaceans and, like insects, have an exoskeleton which they need to regularly in order to grow. Unlike insects they shed half the exoskeleton at a time, so occasionally half a shed exoskeleton can be found like this and woodlice which have shed half their exoskeleton look a different colour in front and behind.
