I wonder how many moth species are present there in N. Italy that dont occur in Britain? It looks like a geometridae larva, it might be included in ukleps, its not unlike some Ive found in recent weeks.
What size is it, length?
Hard to say; from my limited observations only about 10% of the species I have found do not occur in Britain. There are maps at http://www.lepidoptera.pl/
This geometrid larva is 40 mm long.
Theres a good chance then it will be included in ukleps. I will try to find a likeness for it- I'm still trying to ID quite a few geometridae larvae Ive found myself. Do you know which plant it was found on?
I found it on my jacket when I got home! The wood where I had been is largely sweet chestnut and hazel but I cannot tell which plant it was on. Thanks for looking.
