Colouration is possibly more like that of the gooseberry sawfly but it was found on hazel? I cant find a reference to gooseberry sawfly eating anything other than gooseberry or currant leaves.
I was having the same thought they look like the ones I found on white currants in the summer
Its a peculiar green and maybe indicative of the species? Did you post your ones?
I did post them as gooseberry sawfly but not sure how to link to it it was late June, july or early august.I will try to find it and the date.
Found it under Nematus ribesii posted the observation on the 10th July 2012
I think I might have seen that, I'll take a look.
